About us

Comrat Regional Museum of History and Local Lore is one of the largest museums in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia. Founded in 1969, it is housed in a spacious building and currently houses over 80,000 exhibits covering the history of the region. The exhibits highlight archaeological finds discovered in the territory of the modern autonomous region, as well as the development of the Gagauz people. The museum displays artifacts, documents, decorative and applied arts, folklore, clothing, tools, and materials on sports, medicine, as well as the region's religious and political life. The museum actively participates in the cultural and educational life of Gagauzia, organizing exhibitions, meetings, and scientific events, and serving as a research and educational center. It is visited annually by over 10,000 tourists and official delegations from around the world, as well as local residents.
